EO Christmas Party 2009

This year’s Holiday Party was a huge success with 19 members and 12 guests attending. It was held at the exclusive private club of the Shui On Group located at #1 Xintiandi. The gorgeous 1930’s building was dressed up for the holidays by a team of fast-working elves (most of them the wonderful employees of the club). Thank you Bryan Chan for making the arrangements, and giving EO Shanghai this very special opportunity to enjoy the premises in true style!

The evening was kicked off with drinks and the live music of Jose Herrera ?really great jazzy Christmas music to get us in the mood. Ten Christmas riddles were posted for all who wanted to take up the challenge for a shot at winning one of the 11 prizes donated by EO members and friends.

The group adjourned to the beautiful second floor dining room where we enjoyed an excellent 9-course Chinese cuisine dinner. Our chapter president, Henry Winter, dressed in his now signature ‘fashion statement?outfit (this time it was Christmas red from head to toe!) gave a short and inspirational speech. Learning/Social Chair James Gwertzman did a fantastic job as MC for the evening (it was definitely the black tie & tux that did it). One of the games organized by James was sticking each other with Xmas stickers without being found out. Steve Baker and Monte Singman were the big winners of two bottles of premium Scotch whiskey (compliments of Ben Tan) for that game. Onto Christmas carol charades where James arranged for the forums to team up to see which forum could guess the most in 10 minutes. Forum 4 won! The remaining glut of prizes were distributed to lucky draw winners.

All in all it was a really great time to mingle with members and meet the significant-others of members. At the end of the night, each guest took home a big goody bag of coupons, chocolates, and a 2010 calendar filled with EO Shanghai chapter photos from the past year.

A huge thank you to James Gwertzman for a great coordination job, Julia Yu for making so many key contacts, Constance Chan (Bryan’s wife) & Grace Liu for the beautiful Christmas decorations, and last but not least Chapter Manager Tracy Cao for the dedication and hard work and a lot of last-minute rushing around!
